Towana Renea Brodie was born again on July 14, 1994 under the leadership of her father, Apostle Ernest Quick, Jr of True Believers Pentecostal Glorious Church of God in Washington, DC. It was there where she was baptized in the name of Jesus and received the Holy Ghost with the evidence of speaking in tongues as the spirit gave utterance. Every time the church doors were open, she was there, soaking up the Word of God at every opportunity. She grew in leaps and bounds. For once, she had found something that filled the void in her life she so desperately was seeking. She found the love she was looking for; it was in Jesus Christ. True Believers Pentecostal Glorious Church was her proving grounds, she served faithfully and diligently as a missionary, choir member, Sunday school teacher, and Praise & Worship leader.
In 1996, she was called into ministry, she knew deep down within herself that God has chosen her to teach, preach and bring deliverance to His people. She was floored by the fact that God wanted to use someone like her. She struggled with the calling for 2 years and was finally licensed as an Evangelist in 1998 by her father. She continued to devote herself to the ministry and the Word of God. In the year 2000, the Lord had given Pastor Brodie a burden for the women in the Body of Christ who had been called to ministry when she was in a spiritual rut and did not have the help or the support to overcome or deal with the issues of her heart in the year 2000. She asked the Lord why He would give her such a task when she was going through such difficulties and uncertainties herself. He gently spoke to her spirit, "Why not you?". She was floored by the fact that God still wanted to use her, a vessel that had been damaged, rejected, hurt, disappointed, criticized and ostracized. A vessel that looked for love in all the wrong places, and did all the wrong things just so she would feel loved if it was just for one night. She asked herself Lord, how can I help these women overcome their fears and challenges when I am struggling to stay saved myself? How can this be? Well, to make a long story short, God said to her through His Word, before you were formed in your mother's belly, I knew every mistake you would make and that I have already prepared a counter-strategy, a master plan for you. This plan has been worked out for you in the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Everything that you endured was for the very sake of the elect that they may obtain salvation. It will be through your personal testimony that other women will be delivered and set free from the pains of their past and be able to achieve their divine purpose in Me. You have been predestined, qualified, and equipped to handle the task before you were ever born. Well that was enough for me and my response was let your will be done.
In August of 2003, she was led to Churches Of The Promised Land, where Bishop Joshua Paul Logan is founder and senior pastor, embraced and stirred up the gifts in Pastor Brodie. It was under his leadership that she was set free from the pains of her past and began to really walk in her calling and purpose. In January of 2004, Divinely Inspired Victorious AchieverS of God, (affectionately known as D.I.V.A.S of God) was launched under the leadership of Bishop Joshua Paul Logan, Presiding Bishop and Chief Protector of Churches Of The Promised Land, based in Landover, Maryland. This outreach ministry will serve as a vital support to the women in the Body of Christ. So many of our sisters who have been called and anointed to do the work of ministry have been held back by the enemies of fear, doubt, low self-esteem, and tradition, but God is calling us forth for such a time as this. It is the mission of this ministry to help nurture, mentor, encourage, and support the spiritual development and maturity of the women in the Body of Christ and to discover the D.I.V.A. within, through biblical principles and applications. In October of 2004, Towana Renea was ordained as a Pastor and served faithfully under Bishop Joshua Paul Logan as associate pastor. While there, she headed the Women's Department, served as the Executive Church Administrator for the Churches of The Promised Land. She also served on the Pastor's support team.
In May of 2006, Pastor Brodie relocated to St Louis, MO under the direction and guidance of the Holy Ghost. It was there that the Lord began speaking to her again...this time about starting a ministry. As Pastor Brodie, prayed and sought the Lord, and sought the counsel of her covering, Bishop Logan, she began to see the need for the ministry that God had placed in her to be in St Louis. She heeded to the voice of the Lord and started bible studies in her home. On August 8, 2006, Pastor Brodie preached her first sermon as Founder & Sr Pastor of Church Of The Promised Land, St Louis with 3 faithful members in attendance.
Then in October 2006, the Lord released Pastor Brodie to change the name of the church to Sanctuary Of Praise to reflect the spirit of the ministry which God created in her. Pastor Brodie believes that in order to receive anything from God, you have to first believe that He is and that you have to give Him the praise at all times no matter the situation or circumstances. We have to bless the Lord at all times! His praises should continually be in our mouth so that we can enter into His gate with thanksgiving and into His courts with praise!
Pastor Brodie is presently serving as the National Intercessor/Ministerial Advisor for Women of Change International Ministries, Inc, Tallahassee Florida where Pastor Mary Brinson is CEO/Founder. She is also an affiliate of Women Of God International Ministries, Baltimore, Maryland where Elder Trena Stephenson is CEO/Founder.
