What can I say, but that I was just one more soul, born in sin, but saved by the Grace of God and the atonement of the blood shed for me by His Son, Jesus Christ. The defining moments in my life in coming to Jesus were numerous and it wasn't until I came to Valley Bible Fellowship that I fully realized his plan for the rest of my life in Him. I can recall the times in my life when He truly 'spoke' to me and I either did not understand the 'message' or just 'thanked my stars' for 'skating by' yet one more time. The time in college, when returning from a Holiday Dance, driving home after dropping off my date and travelling on the freeway; getting sleepy due to the late hour; then, suddenly being 'gently nudged' awake to see the freeway barrier fast approaching the driver's side of the car; then experiencing the wheel 'correction' that averted disaster. I felt, for sure, a 'presence' in the passenger seat to my right! Did I pay attention and give full credit where credit was due? No-o-o-o-o! The time a few years later when I was returning home from a long day at work (I was commuting from Oakland to San Jose), once again on the freeway, and 'nodded off' during the commute hour; then, suddenly being 'gently nudged' awake to see brake lights in front of me; then experiencing the wheel 'being controlled' to safely guide me from a full '360' spinout, to end up on the right hand shoulder of the road, without having impacted any of the vehicles on the roadway! The twenty-nine and a half years in the Fire Service for Campbell and Santa Clara County, experiencing many tragedies and disasters, both small and large scale, that I felt 'guided' on many occasions, that helped me avert trouble and allowed me to complete my tasks and protect my crew and those I was sworn to protect and care for! The several occasions while riding my motorcycle that verified to me that God truly exists and that He 'isn't finished with me, yet!' The time while riding into Ft. Collins, CO in the dark of night, during inclement weather, being cold and tired and faced with trying to pass a vehicle going uphill; seeing lights fast-approaching and feeling that 'I'm not going to make the pass' and preparing for the head-on impact; then to realize that 'someone' took control and gave just the right amount of acceleration, right amount of weight shifting to lean into 'the hole', the right amount of weight shifting to upright myself and complete the pass and fast-approaching curve in the roadway ahead of the vehicle! I absolutely knew then that God was holding me in His hand, protecting me and preparing me for His work later. After retiring and moving to Las Vegas, it wasn't long before we discovered Valley Bible Fellowship and our lives have been changed forever. We have never felt as 'alive' before in the many churches we have attended (and, in some locales, still attend). We are ever grateful for the opportunity to serve God and to give Him praise in worship, devotion and fellowship. There is no better relationship than with Him and all of our Brothers and Sisters in Christ Jesus!
About my beautiful bride, Sharon, there is little more to say than that God truly has blessed me with a person who completes me. We met in May, 2003, at a time when both of us were of the attitude that life alone was going to be the 'norm'. Then, with just one dance, our lives changed forever! And it has been a loving partnership ever since. We dance to God's music and pace and hold each other close, enjoying the rhythms of life and the Grace of God's 'lead'. Life is beautiful and we give full credit in our Faith and God's will. He has ordained that we be together for His enjoyment and service in being a Brother and Sister in Christ Jesus to others and to fulfill His work. It is Valley Bible Fellowship and all of its members that make loving God so perfect!
